Every year North Lake Campus hosts a Welcome Bash in the fall to get students excited for the new semester.
This year students were able to listen to music, play games and eat free food from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Aug. 30 in the Student Life Center H200 and courtyard.
Inside, student engagement set up a giant Connect Four, Sorry! and Jenga board games, a pop-a-shot dual basketball hoop and had food set out for students, faculty and staff to enjoy.
They served 110 hot dogs, 110 burgers and 30 veggie burgers, beans, popcorn, 125 chocolate chip cookies and 125 brownies with lemonade or tea to drink.
Outside in the courtyard Multicultural Affairs set a Tie-Diversity table. About seventy students participated in this tie-dye station, where they were able to create their own shirt.
“We made this event so that students could use colors to represent different aspects of their identities, like age, gender, religion, sexuality, etc.,” said Multicultural Affairs Coordinator Laura Rosen.
The whole event was very successful leaving lots of happy students ready to encounter the fall semester.
