In the Dallas-Fort Worth area, one out of every five jobs is related to aviation and aerospace. The region is also home to the biggest aviation industry in the country, which has led to an expo and summit by Susana Perez and Dallas College covering everything from drone workshops to a sneak peek at the upcoming A-M-T program.
“Generally speaking, we are working with aerospace and aviation industry in the region directly so that we understand better what kind of students and future employees they’re looking for,” said Perez, senior director of campus administration at Mountain View Campus.
“I hope to broaden more aviation students’ minds, to come through out Dallas College program, to come learn about the great and wonderful careers in aviation and drones,” said Michael Hill, program manager, Dallas College Workforce Programs.
Many students around the Dallas area attended the expo and were able to experience the aviation and aerospace business firsthand while also finding out ways to make their own path to a job in the industry.
“It’s happening in the communities that we’re in, and so the fact that we’re able to offer that here in Dallas College for the first time is remarkable,” Perez said.
