At North Lake Campus, leadership and connection aren’t limited to the classroom. Across campus, student-led clubs are bringing people together, creating spaces where curiosity, shared interests and personal growth thrive.
For students with big ideas and bold ambitions, The Entrepreneur Society offers the perfect launchpad. The club is dedicated to empowering aspiring business leaders through hands-on experience, strategic collaboration and exposure to real-world business applications.
“We support students in launching and growing their own ventures by offering mentorship, skill-building workshops, networking opportunities and access to competitive platforms,” said club president, Deanna Barnes.
One of the group’s signature events, Pop-Up & Prosper, gives student entrepreneurs the chance to showcase and sell their products or services right on campus—connecting with both the college community and residents in a real market environment.
“We also proudly represented our college at the SkillsUSA State and National Championships, earning a gold and three bronze awards for our membership,” Barnes said. “This opened up opportunities for more entrepreneur competitions in the future.”
Two monthly meetings are tailored to different aspects of entrepreneurship. Guest speaker sessions are held on the second Wednesday at noon, featuring local business owners, mentors, and industry professionals. Peer-led workshops take place on the last Friday at 7 p.m., offering a collaborative space for business planning and creative problem-solving.
“The North Lake International Club’s purpose is to provide opportunities for members to socialize and learn about other cultures and languages,” club adviser, Lai Ping Lau said. “The club also educates the greater campus by planning school events. We provide an inclusive community where international students can support each other and enjoy their social life on campus. All Dallas College students are welcome to join.”
Each meeting is a chance to build connections, share ideas, and have fun in a relaxed and welcoming environment. Students attending meetings can look forward to connecting with F1 peers from diverse backgrounds, learning about upcoming cultural events, sharing ideas to improve the club, and enjoying light refreshments and fun activities in a welcoming environment.
STEM League at North Lake is where curiosity meets opportunity. The club connects students across science, technology, engineering and math through workshops, outreach programs, and networking with professionals in the field.
“I wanted to become president because I wanted to create North Lake an active environment for students to have fun in as well as get tons of opportunities in,” said club president Muskaan Haque.
Among her priorities is building stronger connections with younger learners.
“One of the goals that I do have is to have an outreach program for high schoolers as well as dual credit students. We will be hosting info sessions for dual credit students and for just regular high school students we will be going in person to certain high schools around North Lake.”
Haque said the club is planning for leadership workshops as well as events with professionals in different STEM majors as she reflected on her growth as president.
Taylor Chavez joined STEM League with a spark of curiosity.
“I first heard about STEM League during the table events in Fall 2024. I later learned that the club was in need of members. I decided to get involved, and over time, I became an officer,” Chavez said.
