The North Lake Blazers seized control early and held off the Eastfield Harvester Bees for an 8–7 victory on April 25.
Eastfield struck first at the top of the first inning when Jorge Herrera grounded a run in the game’s opening inning.
North Lake answered with authority in the bottom of the fifth when Shaun Williams lasered a single to right field followed by Parker Burt who ripped one to left field.
Michael Holden then banged an infield hit to plate the go-ahead run, giving the Blazers a 3–1 edge.
In the top of the sixth inning, Eastfield briefly roared back as Angel Gutierrez smacked an RBI single down the left-field base line to knot the score at 3–3.
North Lake counterpunched during their time at bat, when a wild pitch and a missed ball delivered two runs, pushing the Blazers into the lead, 5–3.
The Blazers then erupted with three more runs in the seventh inning, creating their largest cushion of the afternoon. Eastfield mounted a late rally in the eighth—scoring four times on a walk, a booming double and timely knocks—to cut the deficit to one.
But North Lake’s bullpen locked down the ninth, clinching the win with two strikeouts.
Starter Dylan Marion set the tone for North Lake, surrendering one run on two hits in his inning of work.
Relievers Reece Parrott, Jacob Ayala, Trey Ramirez, Daniel Lopez, Isaac Lopez, Grant Kline, Logan Walp and Kyle Sauvage then stifled Eastfield over four hitless innings, fanning five and walking two.
At the plate, Harrison Golden fired a 3-for-4 performance with two runs scored to ignite the Blazers.
Jake Williams powered-in two runs, going 2-for-4, while Michael Holden chipped in two hits and an RBI.
For Eastfield, Michael Caputo led the charge, going 4-for- 5 with three RBIs. Herrera and Gutierrez each collected two hits, with Gutierrez also pilfering two bases.
Despite eight walks and a spirited rally, the Harvester Bees’ late surge fell just short.
