The 68th Annual Grammy Awards took place on Feb. 1, in Los Angeles and the show was full of big wins, bold performances and speeches that got people talking. The ceremony was hosted by Trevor Noah and was broadcast live from the Crypto.com Arena.
Latin music star Bad Bunny made Grammy history by winning Album of the Year for “Debí Tirar Más Fotos.” It is the first time a Spanish-language album has won top honors at the Grammys.
Kendrick Lamar was the biggest winner of the night, taking home five awards. His song “luther,” a collaboration with SZA, won Record of the Year. With his total wins, Lamar became the most-awarded rapper in Grammy history.
Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas won Song of the Year for “Wildflower.” Olivia Dean was named Best New Artist of 2025.
Other winners included Lady Gaga, who earned awards for her album “Mayhem” and her single “Abracadabra.” Lola Young won Best Pop Solo Performance for her song “Messy.”
The Grammy Awards also celebrated fashion, memorable red carpet looks, and cultural milestones. Eight-year-old Aura V became the youngest individual Grammy winner. Her recording “Harmony” received the top honor for Best Children’s Music Album. The the show featured a New Country category with Jelly Roll becoming its first winner.
The show mixed entertainment with deeper moments. Several artists used their time on stage or backstage to speak about current events. Immigration issues, especially criticism of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, became a central theme of many speeches.
Bad Bunny, during his acceptance speech earlier in the night, called out the words “ICE out” before thanking fans and collaborators. During his comments, he said, “We’re not savage, we’re not animals, we’re not aliens. We are humans and we are Americans,”
Billie Eilish and Olivia Dean also referenced immigration in their speeches. Eilish said “no one is illegal on stolen land” and Dean spoke about her immigrant heritage and the bravery of her family.
Country artist Shaboozey dedicated his award to his immigrant mother and Kehlani made clear statements about her views on immigration enforcement after winning her first Grammy. Gloria Estefan, backstage, expressed fear for children in detention centers, calling the political moment frightening.
In addition to awards and speeches, the show celebrated music history, many artists performed. The combination of performances and heartfelt messages made the show one of the most discussed Grammy nights in years. The 2026 Grammy Awards highlighted both the best in music and the way musicians use their platform to comment on issues that matter to them and their fans.
