The Dallas College North Lake men’s basketball team is off to a blazing start. Confidence and chemistry are building early for the Blazers as they rolled to their third straight win, crushing Arlington Baptist University Junior Varsity, 113-47, at home during the Community Day game on November 7.
The victory capped off a strong week for North Lake, which also earned an 83–39 win over Texas Wesleyan Junior Varsity on November 4. The confidence gained in that matchup carried into Friday’s performance as the Blazers continued to build on their early-season momentum.
The Community Day match brought around 650 elementary school students, who packed the stands with energy and excitement. Adding to the fun, the team’s mascot kept the young crowd engaged – dancing along the sidelines and celebrating each basket.
Fueled by that lively atmosphere, North Lake delivered a commanding all-around performance. The team’s balance and depth were evident as several players scored in double figures, showcasing unselfish play and constant energy on both ends of the floor.
Zaedyn Owens led the scoring effort with 17 points and 10 rebounds, sparking momentum off the bench. Santana Spivey and Jordan Edwards each contributed 15 points, maintaining the offensive rhythm. Romiel Carter, who was recently named Dallas Athletic Conference (DAC) Player of the Week, added 12 points and eight rebounds, while Ngozi Ofili chipped in 12 points and seven boards, giving North Lake a strong presence inside the paint. The relentless pace carried the team past the 100-point mark for the first time this season.
Now 3–0, the Blazers continue to show why they remain one of the most respected programs in junior college basketball. With five National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division III national championships – the most in men’s junior college basketball history – North Lake once again looks prepared to make noise in the DAC this year.
