At Eastfield, the Music Concert Series is shining a spotlight on powerful stories — this year, celebrating the women whose voices and artistry shape the program.
Dr. Sunny Yun opened the performance March 25 using the piano to share a journey built on passion and dedication. In addition to teaching at Eastfield, Yun is a professional pianist.
“My journey as a woman in music has made me more, like, confident in my voice,” said Yun. Her goal is simple: to connect — inviting listeners to feel the emotion behind every note.
“Try to communicate with the audience through the music. I want them to feel what I feel,” she said.
For many in the audience, the performance becomes more than entertainment — it becomes inspiration.
Music professor Dr. Oscar Passley says the musicians delivered a standout performance.
“The performance was executed really well with precision, great, you know, feeling and expression, and really very cohesive,” Passley said.
And for Eastfield, the message is clear: women in music aren’t just part of the story — they’re leading it.
