Music culture and community come together at Dallas College’s North Lake Jazz Festival. At the performance building, North Lake Campus became a celebration of jazz bringing together students, artists and the community.
“So one of the most beautiful things about jazz is how it brings people together. What I’m trying to do is bring our community together around jazz,” said Dr. Luis Palacios.
The featured master classes gave students direct access to world-class musicians. Guest artists Dennis Marks and John Fedchock led hands-on sessions.
“Great students here. Great facilities. So, it’s just a very pleasant experience and I really appreciate, very much, being here,” said Marks.
The festival also earned special recognition as state Rep. Terry Meza presented a proclamation honoring its contribution to arts education and the cultural life of the community.
The impact remains a reminder that jazz is not just a genre, it’s a living tradition that continues to inspire.
