Dallas College puts the unity in community. By bringing cultures together, from around the globe together in one place.
“So, people can come to our campus and really experience the whole world because we have representation from so many different parts of the world right here,” said Dr Rick Smith, president of North Lake Campus.
The diverse community of age, race and religion at North Lake have gathered here to share the richness of their cultures.
“We still have to respect other cultures and that’s extremely important now a days that people know,” said Khamankar Vaishali, a biology professor.
Students unite, together, celebrating differences and similarities from many different cultures to learn about.
“Explore and see different things from different tables. That’s what I like about the world fest,” said Osho Tabitha, a nursing student.
Igniting lifelong learning by experiencing all parts of the world through song, dance, and food.
“It’s not enough just kinda, enjoy the fruits for somebody’s culture but understanding the people behind it,” said Amanda Sargent Jagne Shaw, the mistress of ceremonies.
By fostering this deeper understanding, North Lake becomes a true community where every identity is represented.
“We want our students to know that they have a place here at North Lake,” said Shaneé Moore, the North Lake leadership director.
Enjoying each other’s presence and becoming one community is what World Fest is all about. Today for the first time North Lake hosts World Fest, an event that brings students out of the classroom and around the world here without leaving campus. Including all kinds of savory sweet treats, vivid music, and performances for the community to come and be a part of.
