The Texas Intercollegiate Press Association (TIPA) is the oldest student media organization in the nation and most respected collegiate press associations in the country.
Each year, students from colleges and universities across the state gather for their annual convention for live contests, workshops and networking opportunities.
The North Lake News-Register staff and contributors traveled to the Denton Convention Center March 18-21 for this year’s conference. The News-Register and Video Tech programs received 35 awards.
The News-Register Staff received the Overall Excellence Award/Newspaper, First Place in the Best of Show/Two-Year Newspaper category and First Place/Overall Design-Web.
First-place individual honors went to the News-Register’s Editor-in-Chief, Gaytri Saini for Overall Cover Design and Managing Editor, Katelyn Steffen for her column “The lockdown generation fires back.”
Video Technology received five honors include First Place/ Feature Reporting-Video for Avery Rodriguez and Ben Krenek, In-Depth Reporting/ Video for Jahzara Evans and Melany Zarate and Sports Reporting/Video for Emmy Espinosa and Rivers Shaw.
