The Dallas College esports Athletic Program has been growing rapidly since its launch in October 2021, providing students with exciting opportunities to compete and connect through gaming.
“Our program offers a wide range of competitive titles, including “League of Legends,” “Valorant,” “Super Smash Bros.,” “Rocket League,” “EA FC,” “Marvel Rivals,” “Call of Duty,” “Apex Legends,” “Rainbow Six Siege,” “Madden,” “Tekken” and “Overwatch.” Whether students are experienced competitors or just getting started, everyone is welcome to join and be part of our esports community,” Esports Coach Skyler McCort said.
Dallas College esports competes at a national championship level. To participate as a competitive student-athlete, students must be enrolled in at least 12 credit hours and maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0. Our teams compete against over 250 colleges across the country through the National Junior College Athletic Association’s Esports (NJCAAE) official tournament platform, PlayVs.
The esports facilities at North Lake are equipped with top-tier technology to ensure the best competitive experience. Students have access to the latest gaming consoles too, including PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch.
Student are using gaming PCs feature Intel i9 processors, RTX 4080 graphics cards, and 24-inch Alienware monitors running at 1440p and 360Hz. Each station is also equipped with high-quality Logitech tenkeyless mechanical keyboards, gaming mice, and premium headsets with HyperX options available based on player preference.
Practice sessions are designed to help players grow both individually and as a team. Most teams meet twice a week to focus on mechanics, communication, strategy and overall game knowledge.
The practice sessions include in-game play, scrimmages and video-on-demand (VoD) reviews to analyze performance and improve gameplay. Competitive student-athletes also participate in one official match each week during the season.
The Dallas College esports program continues to build a strong, inclusive, and competitive environment for all students. If you’re interested in joining, improving your skills, or representing Dallas College on a national stage, they encourage student to get involved.
