The new H-E-B grocery store in Irving continues to experience strong customer traffic weeks after its opening. For many residents, H-E-B is more than just another supermarket. It represents added convenience, greater shopping choices and another sign of the city’s continued growth.
The new store marked another milestone in H-E-B’s expansion across the Dallas-Fort Worth area, fulfilling a long-awaited request from many Irving residents who previously traveled to neighboring cities to shop at the popular Texas grocery chain.
For many customers, having an H-E-B nearby has made grocery shopping more convenient and exciting.
“I’ve been waiting for this day,” Irving resident Maria Gonzalez said on opening day. “I used to drive to Frisco just to shop at H-E-B. Now it’s only a few minutes away and that’s going to save me so much time and money.”
Shoppers praise the store’s selection of fresh produce, bakery items, prepared meals, tortillas and H-E-B’s popular private-label products. Customers also point to the spacious layout and variety of merchandise as reasons they return.
“I love the quality of the produce and the bakery,” customer Anthony Ramirez said after visiting the store with his wife and two children. “Everything looks fresh. The aisles are wide and the prices seem very competitive.”
Some residents say the addition of H-E-B has increased competition among grocery retailers in Irving.
“This is good for everyone,” retiree Linda Foster said. “When more stores compete, customers usually benefit from better prices and better service. I’m happy to have another place where I enjoy shopping.”
Beyond its impact o

n shoppers, residents believe the new location is contributing to the local economy by creating jobs and attracting additional visitors to the Las Colinas area. The store has also become a gathering place for longtime H-E-B customers who see the brand as part of their Texas traditions.
“I grew up shopping at H-E-B,” customer Carlos Mendoza said. “Every time I walked into one with my parents, it reminded me of home. Seeing one finally open in Irving brings back those memories.”
The Irving location is one of several H-E-B stores the San Antonio-based grocery company has opened across North Texas in recent years. Founded in 1905, H-E-B operates more than 450 stores in Texas and Mexico and is known for its fresh foods, Texas-made products and customer service.
