Dallas College/North Lake Campus hosted its Food Pantry Drive-Thru on Nov. 14, bringing together more than 65 volunteers to sort and organize 40,000 pounds of food for the community.
During the distribution, the pantry served 265 families, reaching a total of 1,323 individuals. Among those assisted were 101 SNAP recipients and 31 government employees.
Jennifer Segura, student care coordinator of basic needs and community connections at North Lake, emphasized the importance of ensuring resources like the food pantry remain within reach for students and families who need them, as these resources play a vital role in strengthening the community and creating a more supportive campus environment.
“They ensure that students and families can meet their basic needs with compassion, reducing barriers to success and promoting overall well-being. Ensuring easy access to food helps build a community where everyone has the opportunity to thrive,” Segura said.
Organizers said they plan to continue expanding outreach efforts to meet ongoing demand and encourage more students to utilize the food pantry’s services. The next Food Pantry Drive-Thru event takes place at Brookhaven Campus Dec. 9 from 10 a.m. to Noon.
